Cashmere is a precious and delicate material that requires special care to preserve its softness and longevity.

Regular Wear and Care

Studio Cashmere8 recommends alternating your cashmere garments and not wearing them for more than two consecutive days to allow the fibers to rest. According to a Mongolian belief, "cashmere loves water: the more you wash it, the more beautiful it becomes". Indeed, this natural fiber needs to be regularly washed to maintain its softness and fineness.

Washing and Drying

For optimal care, machine wash your cashmere in a protective laundry bag, using a cold wool program, with a suitable detergent and a spin cycle not exceeding 500 revolutions/minute.

Hand washing is also possible. Be careful not to let your cashmere soak for too long and rinse it thoroughly with clear water. Gently wring it out by rolling it in a towel to absorb excess water, without twisting it.

Then lay your cashmere flat on a towel to dry, away from direct sunlight and any heat source. Tumble drying is not recommended.

Ironing

If necessary, iron your cashmere using a low-temperature steam iron, without pulling on the knit to avoid distorting it.

Pilling: A Natural Phenomenon

Cashmere is a living material, and as such, it may release a slight excess of fibers in the form of small pills. Contrary to popular belief, this does not indicate a quality defect, but rather results from the natural friction of the fibers.

To limit this phenomenon, wash your cashmere regularly to nourish its fibers. If pilling appears, use a special cashmere comb or a suitable shaver, then wash your sweater to restore the material to its full beauty.

Stain Treatment

In case of a stain, act quickly by dabbing it with cold water and a special wool or cashmere stain remover. If the stain persists, entrust your garment to a professional for suitable dry cleaning.

Moth Protection

Moths are particularly fond of cashmere. To keep them away, only store clean clothes, regularly air your closets, and store your cashmere off-season in airtight garment bags with a natural moth repellent (lavender, cedar wood, etc.).

By following these tips, your cashmere pieces will retain their softness, luster, and comfort over time.
